preppy outline tutorial!

okay so this is JUST to make a cute stroke on a sign like this!
please save this as a pattern for the tutorial to work. (:
*credit also goes to luminouus.com for the idea & help. (:
PLEASE ALSO KNOW PREVIOUS PHOTOSHOP KNOWLEDGE FOR THIS TUTORIAL!

first, open up yo image and stroke the girl with your polygonal lasso tool. example

now, click CTRL C, then CTRL V. (edit>copy then edit>paste). now look at the top bar and click layer > layer style > stroke. example, and set your settings to this. (your image should now look like this)

so far, so good? nowww, for the trickier part. look at your layers palette. you see how the "layer one" is highlighted? well click "background." this should make it highlight. now your going to go to layer > new > layer. (click okay when that box comes up) example.
your layers palette should now look like this.

you're now going to click "layer 1" again, so it looks highlighted. once you did this, go to layer > merge down. (some users may be able to right click layer one and click merge down) example

now we're basically going to repeat step one all over again. go to layer > layer style > stroke, and set your settings to this!

good. now we're also going to repeat another step. go to your layers palette, and click background to get it highlighted. now go to layer > new > layer, click ok. now your going to click layer 2 again so it is now highlighted. now again, go to layer > merge down. (or for some users right click layer 2 and click merge down).

hopefully you're still with me! lol okay, now go to layer > layer style > stroke, and set your settings to this then click drop shadow, and set those settings to this

WOOH! we got the first part down! (: lol. alrighty, now click background to get it highlighted, and make a new layer. then get your polygonal lasso toooll and stroke out the outer edges like this.

now take yo gradient tool and gradient over that area you selected. example. nowwww, take any brush of your choice (i suggest using the color white) and decorating it. my example.

NOW FOR THE FINAL PART (: go to layer > layer style > stroke, and set your settings to this then click drop shadow, and set those settings to this

you're now done! if you play around and make a signnn, you can come up with this! (:
i hope this tutorial helped you! please leave comments. <3
